Sillyass Picture Fun

During a window of sunshine between the rain sessions I made it out for a 5 mile walk and talk today with my friend, Elizabeth. Condensed talk: She and her husband are going to celebrate the solstice at the Cleveland Museum of Art, and I have way too many hangups all or most of which I am aware and am addressing to the best of my ability.

When we came to my house for lunch I showed her a new toy that Picnik has added to its premium package. There are many and I bought the premium long ago because I enjoy playing with pictures (I made the buttons at this site with a mix of FB and Picnik). It's like a coloring book on acid but instead of coloring you click. I am not here to sell anything much less a photo editor (the tools can probably be found online for free anyway); I just wanted to show you the toys! A few people have asked about it too, so that is my excuse dangit.

First is the cropped original then the color boost and HD effect were added. There are many different degrees of effect to choose from, but since I knew I was going to be messing with them again, I just sought out the colors I wanted and didn't mess around too much at this stage.

The first photo here is with "Hypnotize." The middle and last photo (cropped closer) are with the "Ripple Block" feature in the editor portion called "Sandbox." The effect can be faded in and out of the original photo until a desired look is reached. The last one took some fiddling and I don't like it much, but the middle one might make a cool bed spread, and the first makes me look all hippie chick. I dig it.

And since Elizabeth was apt, I took her pic and did some adjusting to it as well.

First the original then the cropped, color boosted and high defined version. I adjusted it a bit while she was here and got her take on what colors she liked and fooled around with a few other toys like the adjustable threshold of black and white and something called and HSL filter. (No idea what HSL means but the tool lets me mess with the colors even more.)

She said she like the yellows and the pinks so I came up with these. A bit goddessy and appropriate for a solstice celebrant don't you think?

She was also curious what the black and white version would look like so I tried it. B&W was too harsh so I softened them both a little to off colors. It might sound difficult but it was only a matter of moving the mouse. The last version was the product of my typical experimenting/playing/messing with things. (Which usually end up looking like a Deadhead created them. Sorry. I can't help it.)

No freaking idea why we both posed with our hands semi praying.  We both went to Catholic grade schools maybe it's a hang over default pose or something. Yep, Sister Lucinda would be smirking her baggy butt off if she were alive to see it.

So, there are some of my new toys! Do you like them? I will share if you want. If you link me to a photo of you somewhere online or send me one via email, I'll use your image for my procrastination purposes!

*crickets chirping*

Hey, I start the fence on Sunday when there is supposed to be a week of no rain. I will be working the brush plenty for reals. And playing with this has kept me from working on the sillyass voice ringtones I am making for specific people's phone numbers. Trust me when I say the results of that endeavor to date warrant my refocus to photo fun.

p.s. If you do want to have a photo edited, and want the hypnotize thing done to it, they seem to come out better when you are face forward.

Ahhh, so the "Mandala" was you all along.  Well, you are Holy.

It was good to see Elizabeth after all this time.

I love these! elizabeth does look like a buddist goddess kinda. We had lightning hit a tree by neghbor's driveway. Not bad just blew bark off the tree and chunks landed in our drives. It scared me when it hit but since our power didn't go out I knew we were safe. Another storm last night and it has made it humid and sticky here. Garage sales today and luncheon for Nici tomorrow and A. Deb returning from canada tomorrow.
Final note: we got a GPS.

love and hugs

Fun stuff! Took a while before I realized that "Hypnotizer Boo" and the "Iconic Elizabeth" were made of smaller versions of the same initial image. Cool.  Buttons like those formerly took a commercial artist hours to create.  Each.  Now there is an "app" in current parlance.

I am able to understand your skipping celebration of the solstice at the CMA;  human sacrifices never interested me much, either.

Just a former inmate of Monday after-school catechism classes, but laughed when I read "default pose."

This is such fun! The last one on the right in the row of three reminds me of a Gustav Klimt painting. The second yellow/pink of Elizabeth reminds me of a political poster (I think its the way her face is sculpted with highlights and the way you put a brave little glint in her eyes).

Your "condensed conversation" cracks me up. The best talk always unfolds on walks. I don't know how Shaun and I would ever have made any decisions if it weren't for us being too broke to do anything other than go on walks. :)
